CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION
MY BACKGROUND:
While my approach to teaching has been shaped by my training with DONA, ICEA, and Birthing from Within, it has been most influenced by my years of supporting families during their birth experiences. Preparation for the birth of your baby is so much more than learning the facts. It’s about building confidence and a toolkit of skills you can use as you progress through pregnancy, your labor, and the year after childbirth.
In 2020 I partnered with my colleague, Shelley Scotka, to form Real Deal Birth and Parenting in an effort to serve more families. We provide both in-person and virtual classes that are lively, interactive, and fun.
classes offered:
Prepared Childbirth - a 4-week series that meets from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm on weeknights. This series is designed for first-time parents.
Breastfeeding Basics and Newborn Care – a 2.5-hour class that covers all the essentials you’ll need to get started with breastfeeding and the basics of newborn care. This class is offered weeknights from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm.
Preparing to VBAC - a 2-hour class designed to prepare families who are planning to have a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean.
Labor Skills Refresher - a 2-hour designed to prepare families for their 2nd, 3rd, etc births.
