ABOUT ME

I am the mother of two pretty awesome daughters who happen to be the reason I was drawn to this work.  My husband and I have lived in the Dripping Springs area since 1999. 

Before turning to birth work, I was a licensed psychological associate working in special education with children in grades K-12.  I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical psychology. 

I have worked in the childbirth field since 2007 after training and certifying with DONA as a birth doula.  I then trained with ICEA and became a certified childbirth educator.  After over a decade as a birth doula, I trained with Austin Baby Guru to become a postpartum doula and I now focus entirely on postpartum work and childbirth education. 

I maintain my own postpartum doula practice and work with families in the greater Austin area.  I’m co-owner (with my partner, Shelley Scotka) of The Real Deal…Preparation for Birth and Parenting where we offer group and private childbirth, breastfeeding and newborn care classes.
